 1944 version of movie Gaslight

The blog got bogged with some out-of-the topic posts made by a bad bot. But, the topics have not been posted yet to one of the books on The Dark Disordered persons, and the topic is interesting, but importantly, information on Gaslighting is critical to know about.

 

1. there was an older British movie about a Gaslighter, then it was redone about 10 years later in Hollywood. 

2. either of the two movies are valid, but links to them in Youtube have varied from month to month making it hard to put up a viewable copy of the movies. Without the movie on some free site, they are not purchasable, to my knowledge, since they are old movies, but still tied up with copyrights. Maybe since the topic has been popular for the last 10 years, it will be available on streaming programs? 

 

3. the topic is one used in the news, pop talk, and daily use, but I doubt all know how the term came about, recently in history, and what it means. 

It's about her

I think these are some main themes of Gaslighting:

 

1. the victim is found to have something the Dark Disordered wants

2. she is conned by a false persona, they marry

3. he is really about stealing her jewels hidden somewhere in the attic

4. when he goes into the attic, though he said he was going to his office, there is evidence he entered the room: when you enter a room in old England and turn on the gas light (fed through pipes like our current gas heating and stoves run on), all the lights dim or flicker as the pressure is bled off to the attic gas light. 

He has a game plan, she is under siege and not aware of the onslaught and danger

5. she finally notices, but he convinces her she's crazy, really mentally. 

This means the victim, the innocent, are blamed. So, Gaslighting is one type of blame shifting, con distraction, and scapegoating. But, beyond shifting blame and scapegoating, there is the second element: he takes, is a thief

6. a friend helps her see she's not crazy, and being conned and taken 

7. This is what is not included in this story, as it doesn't end in the likely outcome of a tragedy:

If he was the victor of the gems, he would be in the situation of leaving her OR as we see in other stories: Push her off the ledge in the Grand Canyon and then present a sob story to the Denver Police.
