All have vulnerable spots and issues in their lives. I'm a retired therapist of 35 years, written books on attackers, and yet, likely have as many or more chinks in my armor than you!
I'm aware of this, and try to keep some humility about this. A few years ago, I had written a few articles on protecting yourself from scammers and thefts while traveling in countries overloaded with pickpockets, which is an indicator that the places or countries also have tons of tourist scammers, thieves cutting backpack straps in restaurants or buses, and bold groups shuffling you and your credit cards to the nearest ATM to empty it.
When I lived in Brazil, I learned some of the skills needed to be street wise, but always, there is a thief, con, or group of criminals ahead of all the helpful info out there on the next, from the Government sites, etc.
There in Brazil, the thief could be that darting thief on the beach with a pen knife taking our backpack, Ray Ban sunglasses, radio, or even sun block. Maybe knowing it would happen lessens the events impact on one self. But, that's not always true: most events take advantage of a person that is vulnerable, tired, disoriented, not aware, etc. It could be a person just "off the boat", looking around, and "the scent of fresh meat wafts to the hungry hyennas". They turn and move toward the person like a group of startled and awakened zombies.
Long story short (get to the point / "skip to the end of the story" Simon Pegg said in the TV series SPACED), I had all the locks, skills, steel reinforced PACSAFE backpack, only to be scammed by a person over three days. As "she" developed a travel relationship, (in Cuenca, Ecuador, she sold herself as a lost Columbian tourist), she emptied my wallet, possessions, and tried to empty my card account over several days. A "love bomber", she ironically tried to have sex with me, to both develop the scam, and provide her with events we'd be in my room and she'd have access to possessions, travel bags, and more, while I might be in the shower, or sleeping and distracted. It didn't make too much difference to her that I'm gay, and didn't want the sex, but oddly, she tried and tried, as if stuck in her story script. She took lots, and I became aware of the "developing love or companion" story being used on single male or female travelers. it was quit brilliant and then I could understand why she had all the fine clothes, gold and silver jewelry, perfume, and power luggage. She truly was a street raised person from Columbia, and all the finery did not fit her temperament or ways.
OK, skip to the end:
- We all have chinks in our armor
- We cannot ever know every single weakness or method of taker Dark Disorders
- We can learn from all this, and from stories from TV, movies, and mythology, as well as tourist information.
- We can get better at recognizing and stopping most
5. But, it is the human condition to have "chinks in our armor". !!!!
therefore:
6. there is no single place you can go to be not vulnerable, to have chinks in the armor, even if you
go to what seems a safe church
go to what seems a familiar store
avoid travel
study and prevent all risks you know, because
All are places where eventually the chinks in our armor, that Achilles Heal shows up
You duct tape yourself to a chair, put up a feeding tube, and watch TV for a few months, and you become vulnerable in other ways. That even becomes the place of most vulnerability. Your fear of fear, fear of the world, fear of vulnerability becomes a place where you are vulnerable, because you're disconnected from others, resources, a helpful brochure, and thousands of other things.
I found this especially true in treating those with the anxiety and fear of agoraphobia: the fear of the market place, and the avoidance of fearful and threatening things. That is one of the most vulnerable places of all, as these persons did not do their own shopping, stopped driving to the doctor, and could no longer connect with relatives / events / or communities. Their lives were at risk and jeopardized.
And, they, in their attempts to develop the perfect safety, only became prisoners
of their FEAR.
Chinks in the armor, are defined
(click on any blue link to go to that original site).
For me, the chink in the armor in Ecuador was that I was not aware that I was one of many single men that travel the world, many looking for sex or a travel companion, and "Chris's from Columbia fit that bill and take". She was a criminal.

So, why go on so much about "chink in the armor?"
The reason is this, and will be expanded in some next articles:
A. the psychopath is all about using any Chink in the Armor of his victims
B. This is what they do best
C. There are thousands of Chinks in the Armor they may attack
But,
D. Fear, a human condition, is their Meta or Master Chink in the Armor.
Fear is the deepest entry point of the attack of the psychopath. They have learned this from early childhood in bullying siblings, harming cats, and expanding that skill groups and brilliance into what they are today: huge. It is so normal for them that it functions on automatic.
Fear is their Meta Chink in the Armor.
There are also thousands of methods of attack, but populism is a Meta Method.
Just some of today's fear based situation, including potassium iodide pills for radiation contamination:
Finally, having personal "protection is important", it helps.
You still must get the armor.
But it needs paired with the reminder, against any Dark Disordered with brilliance and a life time of practice, there is no perfect armor. There are always chinks in the armor, and that Achilles Heal.
This attack, is "what the Dark Disordered" do best:
.
By the way, I do learn things about all this fast. In Cuenca, I was able to process the scam type that was complex, days long, and used social vulnerabilities.
I was able to identify, warn, and fully explain to some other tourists that were being taken in by Argentinian scammers that were using a complex scam of "religious meeting by our founder", which was really a covering for these duos of Scandinavian looking South Americans (all blue eyed), for religious gift or give to a fake charity, just theft, or even investment scam. But, you could only find out what the scam was by attending the secret meeting. They were good at it, and I reported this to the tourist police, who were not interested, as they were up to their very own scams! (and, don't get me wrong on my views of Ecuador:). Travel, but know your chinks better. Teach others today about chinks.
