First, we've been able in this blog to separate sadism / sadistic from sexual sadism / sexually sadistic.

Chicatilo fits into the category of sexual sadism. I think this is a broad category and includes many, many various types that would fill a giant text book. It includes sex before or after death, sexual mutilation, and more.

Progressive, progressing, refers to the fact that over time, the Dark Disordered become progressively "more" of who they are, not less. They also cannot change, with medication, therapies, or repentance / conversion: it is out of rational controls and treatment.
